Dr. Gabriel J. Martinez-Diaz, M.D., FAAD is a Stanford University–trained, board-certified dermatologist specializing in medical, surgical, and aesthetic dermatology. Since entering clinical practice in 2014, he has been recognized for delivering comprehensive, evidence-based care with a focus on natural results and highly personalized treatment plans.
After a brief period practicing in Atlanta, Dr. Martinez-Diaz returned to the Midwest in 2015, establishing his career in Chicago. He has since been affiliated with Northwestern Medicine as an independent physician. In 2017, he founded M.D. Aesthetics and Dermatology, which opened in early 2018 in Chicago’s West Loop—one of the city’s most dynamic and rapidly growing neighborhoods.
Originally from Mayagüez, Puerto Rico, Dr. Martinez-Diaz is fluent in Spanish and is committed to creating an inclusive, welcoming environment for patients of all backgrounds. He graduated with honors in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin–Madison before earning his medical degree from Stanford University School of Medicine, where he was selected as a Doris Duke Research Fellow. He further advanced his academic training through a research fellowship at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF).
He completed his internship at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis, followed by dermatology residency training at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC).
A dedicated educator and lifelong learner, Dr. Martinez-Diaz previously served as an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Dermatology at Emory University. He is also recognized as an expert injector and trainer, with particular expertise in Sculptra® Aesthetic, dermal fillers, and neurotoxin treatments. He has authored and coauthored more than 20 medical publications and remains actively engaged in advancing the field of dermatology and aesthetic medicine.
